Scoring 50 points against the same opponent three times, Devin Booker used his NBA miracle as a family gift

NBA Twitter reacts to Devin Booker's 58-point game against New Orleans: 'MVP candidate' | HoopsHype

Devin Booker has truly become the “god” of the New Orleans Pelicans in the past two years, including twice having to receive 52 points in this 2023-24 season alone.

There are a total of 1,230 matches that took place in the 2022-23 NBA Regular Season. Rarely among these were 25 matches with a player scoring 50 points, accounting for only 2% of the total matches.

This rate shows that scoring 50 points in the NBA is still a special achievement that even top stars don’t do many times. However, the NBA currently has a special player with the feat of scoring 50 points against the same opponent in 3 consecutive matches three times .

With 52 points (9 successful 3-pointers) and 9 assists this morning on April 2, 2024, Devin Booker had his third consecutive game scoring over 50 points on the basket of the New Orleans Pelicans.

Highlights Devin Booker’s 52 points against the New Orleans Pelicans on the morning of April 2, 2024

Previously, the Phoenix Suns scoring star had two bombastic matches against the Pelicans, including:

– Recorded 52 PTS , 5 assists, 4 rebounds (18-30 FG, 6-11 3PT, 10-10 FT) on January 20, 2024

– Recorded 58 PTS , 5 assists, 6 rebounds (21-35 FG, 6-12 3PT, 10-15 FT) on December 18, 2022

So in the last 3 times against the Pelicans, Devin Booker scored a total of 162 points.

This is the highest number the NBA has seen in the past 50 years scored by one person against one opponent, surpassing James Harden’s 158 points against the Memphis Grizzlies in their meeting in 2019.

Besides, it also brought the 28-year-old star on par with legendary Wilt Chamberlain to become the only two players to score 50 points or more in 3 consecutive games against the same opponent.

Highlights of Devin Booker’s two matches scoring 52 and 58 points respectively against the New Orleans Pelicans in the last two confrontations

The strange thing is that the New Orleans Pelicans are ranked 4th in the NBA in defense. They are not an easy team to bully and are currently in the Playoffs group in the West thanks to their deep defense.

Another strange thing is that before these 3 games scoring over 52 points, Devin Booker was locked up by the Pelicans twice in the 2022-23 season. At that time, Booker only had 14 and 16 points respectively in two games with a total of 11-31 FG (2-12 3PT).

But for unknown reasons, right after these two “blackout” matches, D-Book transformed and became the villain of the New Orleans Pelicans in the next 3 meetings.

Having scored 30 points in 2 matches against the Pelicans in the first half of 2022, Devin Booker transformed with 162 points in the following 3 matches, including 2 times scoring 52 points in the past 3 months.

” I don’t have any explanation for this either ,” Devin Booker said while smiling with reporters after the match.

” I was 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 and raised nearby, so many relatives and family members often come to the stadium to cheer me on when I play. Right from the first seasons that I set foot in the NBA, they were there. took the time to watch the matches and spiritually supported me for many years.”

“This can be considered a special gift for my whole family, as a thank you to them,”  Booker shared more about his achievements.

Whatever the reason, Phoenix Suns will be very happy with this shining performance of Devin Booker. This victory helps them improve their record to 44-31, moving closer to a top-6 position in the Western rankings.

Phoenix has one more match against the New Orleans Pelicans on April 8, and when that happens, Devin Booker will once again take center stage against his favorite opponent from the end of 2022 until now.
