Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry was honored Wednesday with the Magic Johnson Award, given annually by the Pro Basketball Writers Association to the NBA player who best blends excellence on the court with cooperation and grace in dealings with media and fans.

Curry, who also won the award in 2016, joins Milwaukee Bucks guard Damian Lillard and retired 13-year NBA veteran Shane Battier as two-time honorees. Curry topped finalists Bam Adebayo (Miami Heat), DeMar DeRozan (Chicago Bulls), Rudy Gobert (Minnesota Timberwolves) and Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana Pacers).

The award is named after the former Los Angeles Lakers guard who was thoughtful, generous and engaging with the media throughout this career. Curry, 36, has long followed suit in news conferences and one-one-one interviews with local and national media members.

In 2023-24, Curry’s 15th season, he averaged 26.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, 5.1 assists. He shot 40.8% from 3-point range and made a league-high 357 3-pointers. All-NBA teams will be announced next Wednesday.
