Bronny James bluntly told reporters that playing with his father LeBron James isn’t a dream of his.

Bronny James is impressing scouts at the NBA Draft Combine and is looking like an NBA prospect who can get drafted on the merit of his abilities instead of his last name. Bronny made it clear he wants to be in the NBA even if it means not being on the Lakers, bluntly stating that playing alongside LeBron James has never been a dream of his.

“No, never. My dream has always just been to put my name out, make a name for myself, and get to the NBA, which is everyone’s end goal that’s here. I never thought about just playing with my dad, but of course, he’s brought it up a couple of times. But yeah, I don’t think about it much.”

Bronny doubled down on how he’s not focusing on getting on the same team as his dad right now.

“When I get there, I don’t think it would be just like me and my dad. I would be happy about getting into the league instead of thinking about playing with my dad. That’s not my mindset right now at all. I’m just trying to put in the work and see where it takes me from there.”

Bronny is generating draft interest independent of the potential of his father’s free agency, with Brian Windhorst reporting that LeBron blindly following Bronny to a team is highly unlikely. Instead, the Lakers were positioning themselves to draft Bronny with a second-round pick.

If Bronny’s stock continues to shoot up and if a team is hoping that LeBron might still follow Bronny if they draft him, the Lakers might need to be more aggressive to lock the prospect down on Draft night.
