The separation between Kylian Mbappé and Paris Saint-Germain did not go smoothly, when L’Équipe reported that the Paris club had frozen the player’s April salary as well as his February bonus.
Leaving is never easy, especially if it is traumatic. That is what is happening at Paris Saint-Germain with Kylian Mbappé, who will officially leave the French club on June 30, when his contract expires.
Issues between club and player have persisted since Mbappe announced, first privately and then publicly, that he would not renew. The latest problem, as explained by sports daily L’Équipe, is related to salaries.
L’Équipe newspaper said that PSG froze Mbappe’s April salary. In addition, there is also the non-payment of bonuses since February last year, which, according to a source inside PSG, will amount to 80 million euros.
Mbappe’s lawyers are negotiating with Paris Saint-Germain to obtain a legal release. But withholding salary and bonuses is clearly not a friendly ending for both sides.
