With Daredevil: Born Again set to come out in early 2025, Charlie Cox recently shared some of his hopes about playing the character for a long time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Cox first portrayed Matt Murdock in the Netflix series Daredevil, which was released on April 10, 2015. The show spanned 39 episodes across three seasons and appeared alongside other Marvel street heroes in The Defenders series before ending on October 29, 2018. Charlie Cox would make his first appearance as the character in the MCU timeline three years later in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
It originally wasn’t clear if the Netflix shows that included Daredevil were canon to the MCU, with Daredevil: Born Again’s story seeming set to answer this question. However, the Defenders Saga has been confirmed as MCU canon in recent history, with Vincent D’Onofrio reprising his Kingpin role in Echo and Cox appearing as Daredevil in two different MCU shows already. Cox recently spoke with Deadline at the 2024 Disney Upfront and talked about some of his hopes for Daredevil in the MCU, which includes playing the character for another ten years.
