ACTRESS Chloë Sevigny has seemingly responded to the backlash over the Variety cover she shot with Kim Kardashian.
The publication released the covers for its Actors on Actors issue on Monday, which features the two American Horror Story stars.
After the photos were shared on Variety’s Instagram, followers slammed Kim, 43, for being featured alongside other Hollywood actors.
Chloë, 49, has now spoken out about the cover, resharing the post onto her Instagram Stories.
“Always nice to be included. Thank you @variety,” she wrote.
The photo showed Kim and Chloë wearing all-black outfits while posing side-by-side with their hands on their hips.
Other cover stars included Robert Downey Jr., Jennifer Aniston, Jon Hamm, Tom Hiddleston, Kristen Wiig, Brie Larson, Taylor Zakhar Perez, Jodie Foster, Joey King, Naomi Watts, Quinta Brunson, and Andrew Scott.
Kim, who has solidified her space in reality TV alongside her famous family, broke into the world of script acting last year.
The Skims founder portrayed Siobhan in FX’s American Horror Story: Delicate, and has been in talks with producer Ryan Murphy about leading her own show in the future.
However, many people thought her inclusion on the cover was a “joke” and being used as “clickbait.”
“What an insult to the many trained, hardworking actors who DO THE REAL WORK! To say this is shameful is an understatement,” one person slammed in the comments.
“Beyond disrespectful to Chloë,” a second wrote, while a third said, “Kim K is not an actor! She doesn’t belong in this space!”
“Having Kim K here is embarrassing….” a fourth commented.
“When you’re talking about acting and you mention Robert Downey Jr. and Jodie Foster, you cannot mention Kim K!” another added.
NOTHING NEW
The Kardashians star received similar criticism when she was first named as one of the stars of AHS: Delicate.
The Season 12 promo video, released last April, had fans believing Kim would “ruin the show” after seeing her name pop up.
“Hang it up man. Im begging you,” one person slammed.
“Congrats, new way to ruin this show…” a second agreed.
“Why! Why ruin a good thing Ryan??!! A Kardashian…I hope it’s a small part,” another wrote.
Ryan, however, defended his casting choice.
“Kim is among the biggest and brightest television stars in the world, and we are thrilled to welcome her to the AHS family,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.
“Emma and I are excited about collaborating with this true force in the culture.”
Kim starred in the season alongside Emma Roberts, 33, who played the lead role of Anna.
KEEP IT COMIN’, KIM
In December 2023, Kim and Ryan announced they were re-teaming on a new Hulu project together.
The TV star will play the role of Los Angeles’ most successful divorce lawyer, who owns an all-female law firm.
Jon Robin Baitz, creator of Brothers & Sisters, will head the writing duties for the upcoming legal drama.
Season 5, Episode 2 of The Kardashians documented the sit-down meeting between Kim and Ryan, where the pair first discussed the idea of her leading her own show.
Family matriarch Kris Jenner, 68, was also present, showing concern for her daughter’s busy schedule as a mom of four.
