Charley Hull has been forced to withdraw from the Amundi Evian Championship after a series of worrying incidents. After slumping down next to a bunker on the third hole looking exhausted, the situation continued after Hull teed off on the fourth hole.
According to information, after receiving medical care for about 15 minutes, the 29-year-old British golfer tried to hit the tee shot, but her condition did not improve. She was taken away by medical vehicle. The organizers said they were informed that Hull had contracted the virus and her poor health condition caused her to collapse.
Charley Hull were forced to withdraw from the Evian Championship very regrettably.
“Obviously this situation left Charley and his fellow players feeling very confused,” the tournament commentator shared.
Currently ranked 19th in the world, Hull has finished tied for 12th in the last two majors on the LPGA and finished fourth at last week’s KPMG Women’s Irish Open.
After round 1, Leona Maguire leads the leaderboard. The Irish golfer, currently ranked 85th in the world, shot a 6-under 65. Maguire also made the first hole-in-one of the tournament this year, on the par-3 second hole. A two-time LPGA Tour winner, she is still chasing her dream of winning her first major title.
Sharing the lead with Maguire are four other golfers, two from the US and two from Australia. Notably, two golfers from Australia, Gabriela Ruffels and Grace Kim, played perfectly without any bogeys. Gabriela Ruffels finished the round with four birdies in the last seven holes.
