The mystery surrounding the murder of Chinese actress Yu Menglong has persisted for over two weeks. To date, a petition calling for a reinvestigation has been signed by over 150,000 fans.
Actor Yu Menglong passed away on September 11 following a party with friends at a posh apartment building in Beijing, China, according to China Times.
It was confirmed that the actor perished after falling to the earth from a high floor. The actor’s mother and management firm later revealed that Menglong passed away after drinking and falling from a height.

More than 150,000 internet users signed a petition to reactivate the investigation to determine Yu Menglong’s cause of death within ten days after the call. Interestingly, a large number of followers from overseas joined the petition.
On September 20, the “Reclaim Justice for Yu Menglong” petition was started, and it was released in both Chinese and English. Many foreign media outlets have also covered the campaign.
“An effective monitoring and protection mechanism must be established in order to prevent acts of violence, exploitation, and abuse of power in the entertainment industry, as well as to safeguard the lives and personal freedom of artists,” stated the initiator. This is to safeguard artists’ fundamental rights and safety while they are at work.
