Youngster obtains full scholarship and admission to 12 US universities after walking 5 km each day to complete his assignment.
Lashawn Samuel, a gifted young man, has received full scholarships and admission to 12 prestigious colleges and universities, including the Ohio State University in the United States.
Lashawn Samuel had hardships while pursuing his education because of his struggle with poverty. He resided in a violent neighborhood where his house was repeatedly broken into and he witnessed the shooting death of a close friend, according to ABC6.
He is claimed to have faced and overcome a number of health issues. He had to go three miles (five kilometers) each day from his house to the Franklinton branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library to seek assistance with his homework.
Lashawn Samuel expressed his excitement about attending college while discussing his admission to 12 universities. “I was overjoyed to be attending college. I had something in my pocket, so even if no one else liked me, I could.
Samuel, who is currently a student at Ohio State University, gave God, his family, friends, and his surroundings credit for his achievement. Without God, my family, my friends, and this atmosphere I have around me, I never would have succeeded, he stated.
He said, “There will always be a barrier or a hurdle that you’re going to have to get over or grow out of. But you will succeed if you stay loyal to yourself, have faith, and work hard to get through it, he continued.
Samuel grew above his challenges to become the first in his family to go to college. “The kid has tremendous perseverance and he just keeps going,” Kelly Young, one of the Homework Help associates at the Columbus Metropolitan Library told NBC4i.
Samuel first received his acceptance letter from the University of Akron. Then several more including from the Fisher College of Business at Ohio State University, his dream school.
