At the age of 25, Kylian Mbappe still has a chance to win an Olympic gold medal with France.
Coach Thierry Henry will lead France U21 at the 2024 Olympics – the Summer Olympics held right at home in Paris.
Amid media interest, he discussed the possibility of including Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe in the squad for Paris 2024.
The Olympic team mainly consists of players under the age of 23, but teams are allowed to select three overage players.
In his first press conference as the new coach of France U21, Henry shared: “Professionally, it would be very good. But unfortunately, I won’t say more about this. We have The Olympics in France, it’s a historic event. I’m very happy, but right now, the top priority is a ticket to the U21 EURO. I’m thinking of players 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 on January 1, 2002 or later. Go and see it’s not bad”.

Previously, Mbappe expressed his desire to attend the Paris Olympics. He wants to add a gold medal to his trophy collection after lifting the 2018 World Cup championship. He affirmed that after watching the London Olympics in 2012, he really wants to attend the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 , but PSG refused to release him.
Therefore, the possibility of participating in the 2024 Olympics will need further consideration. Coach Henry will lead the French U23 team at the Paris Olympics next summer after signing a contract with the FFF (French Football Federation) until 2025. Although his main task will be to secure a place in the finals. U21 EURO in 2025, Henry is also expected to lead France U23 to go deep in men’s football when they are the host country of the Olympics.
Mbappe’s future is considered fixed at PSG this season when he has just been returned to the main kick in the third round of Ligue 1. However, the contract extension is still uncertain.
