Inside Robert Pattinson’s new $7.65 million Hollywood Hills home

Playing Batman has clearly paid off for Robert Pattinson. And we’re pretty sure starring in the Twilight franchise didn’t hurt, either. Either way, the British actor’s film choices have certainly allowed him a certain freedom when it comes to real estate purchases in Los Angeles. The Batman star has just purchased a new home in the Hollywood Hills for $7.65 million (US$5.3 million), making it his second home in the Californian celebrity hotspot.

Spanish Revival in style, the home was built in 1939 and spans 2,725 square feet. With three bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms, it’s by no means a Hollywood mansion, but we’re sure it will be spacious enough for Pattinson and girlfriend Suki Waterhouse to reside comfortably. Pattinson bought the house from the ex-wife of musician Beck, Marissa Ribisi, who sold it to the actor for a $3.2 million profit (US$2.2 million), according to Dirt.com. Back in the mid-2000s, the home even starred in the reality TV series Flipping Out, where designer Jeff Lewis renovated the interiors.

It’s not hard to see why Pattinson (and other celebrities) would love the property. Ultra private, it’s walled off by a thick hedge and sturdy gate. Once inside, a winding path surrounded by lush green lawn and well-established tress leads to the front stairs. Surrounded by perfectly kept garden beds, the house has a cosy and homely feel, thanks to a front verandah and multiple French windows.

Inside on the main level, exposed ceiling beams and an open fireplace in the living room add to the house’s lived-in charm. While not entirely open plan in style, arched entryways give the house’s living spaces—living room, dining room, kitchen—an airy feel.

In the kitchen, dark timber cabinetry and floorboards, and stainless steel Miele and Viking appliances give the space a dramatic edge, while the marble benchtops add a sense of luxury.

The two main bedrooms are located on this level, and both feature ensuites and ample space. The main suite opens out to a small Juliette balcony which overlooks the front garden.

Fitted with an ensuite, the small bathroom is designed with white tiles and grey marble, and gives off slightly English cottage vibes. No wonder Pattinson’s a fan.

Outside, the home boasts a small plunge pool and paved seating area complete with a fireplace—both areas would be ideal for entertaining small groups. While the property as a whole is neither splashy nor super-modern, it’s the kind of private, well maintained home many of us would be perfectly happy in.
