Keanu Reeves’ character of John Wick has become one of the greatest on-screen action heroes of all time. Throughout the four films of the franchise, Reeves and the character have redefined the action genre and pushed the limits of the creativity and style with which action can be shot and presented on screen. Besides the action, two major significant driving forces of the film are its stunning visuals and the characterization of John Wick. Fans have been fascinated by the character’s mythic quality, his legendary status, and the fear he instills in others. Popular American sports commentator and podcaster Joe Rogan is also a huge fan of the franchise. He revealed his thoughts on the franchise and the character while also pointing out a weird thing about the popularity of the films.
Joe Rogan Finds it Weird that Fans Root for a Deadly Assassin Like John Wick
Joe Rogan
In an episode of the Joe Rogan Experience, Joe Rogan talked about incredible action in the John Wick franchise and Keanu Reeves‘ dedication to the action sequences. While he is also a fan of the character, Rogan pointed out a weird obsession that people, including him, have over the character of John Wick, who is a deadly assassin. People are rooting for an unforgivable dangerous 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁er who has 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ed several people and has no regrets whatsoever. He talked about this saying,
“Here is what is weird about it, Look I love that movie but why, it’s the 𝓈ℯ𝓍y assassin that you root for, the whole thing is like have we forgiven his past, where he worked for the Russian mob and 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ed how many fucking people that didn’t deserve to be 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ed, like he was the guy you sent in to 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁 bill people it’s the weirdest sort of hero, that’s ever existed. And this is all because it is so satisfying because they 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ed his puppy”
Rogan clarifies that he knows it’s a fictional world, which is why fans including him are rooting for Wick and his pursuits. Additionally, he praises the mythology and world-building of the John Wick world which makes the action and brutality even more exciting and satisfying.

In another episode of the Joe Rogan Experience, Joe Rogan heaped praises on Keanu Reeves’ humble and kind nature. He admires Reeves’ simple attitude and how he does not exude the aura of a Hollywood star and prefers living like the general public. Rogan said,
“That is how he handles being that famous. He is the Matrix guy, that’s some over the top level of fame. He hit that Johnny Depp, Tom Cruise level of fame and then just became a super chill mellow guy, that can just like go through crowds. That guy sits on the subway by himself. There is no obvious outward display of wealth from him, and he is insanely wealthy. When you see him, he is dressed like me, he’s got like a regular watch on with sneakers. He is normal as f**k man. It is real weird. “He has figured out a way to avoid – like there he is right there, on a fucking subway , just chilling. He looks like a totally normal dude”
Reeves has been known as the nicest guy in Hollywood and hearing these praises from Rogan is not surprising since he is always seen being a relatable and humble person in interviews and conversations. This is the main reason why fans and the general public love him and support his films. He is super grateful for the love of his fans and is committed to entertaining them by being an actor. His resurgence and an all-time career boost due to his John Wick films is a testament to his hard work and support from his fans.
