The NBA superstar LeBron James has been happily married to his high school sweetheart, Savannah, for 10 years now. But the king once penned a “love letter” to a hip-hop artist who is 12 years older than him.
Bron wrote a love letter to none other than the legendary rapper, Eminem. NBA stars’ tribute to musicians is not a recent trend. Michael Jordan and Prince were known to be close friends and Magic Johnson has many times made media appearances with Tupac, not only appreciating his music but also saying that the inspiration has helped in the game.
LeBron’s Love for Eminem
During one of the press conferences after a Lakers practice, LeBron revealed there sometimes his entire day is dedicated to Eminem. He calls it a “White Boy Wednesday” and he even plays a lot of Eminem over the speakers in the locker room. LeBron ended the presser screaming, “I love Eminem!” But LeBron didn’t just express his love for Eminem, he also defended the rapper’s new albums. He said that Eminem’s 2018 album “Kamikaze” was a straight fire. LeBron even tweeted that if you don’t think it’s fire, you’re hating and incompetent of the lyrics, cadence, and breakdown of Slim Shady’s raps.
But what’s even crazier is that he told his fans, Eminem was putting a few rappers in a body bag and he was referring to Eminem roasting Drake and Lil Yachty. One thing LeBron loves is filming himself listening and bobbing his head to good music. His videos are all over fan pages on social media.
These videos never featured his 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren. But that changed when he posted a video of his daughter singing along to Eminem’s iconic “Lose Yourself“. His caption cemented his love for Eminem. He captioned the video, “My 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 loves this song because she has great DNA”.
A larger bond between musicians and NBA stars
Music and basketball have always had a strong bond and many NBA elites have expressed how music gets them into the zone. Bron and Drake have not only collaborated on music, but they are close friends too. Drake has even written “Popstar” and “Only” for James. Kevin Durant is a big fan of Lil Wayne. He has even tattooed Lil Wayne on his arm. KD says his music helps him to get pumped before the games.
