Mike Trout is a Philly guy. Growing up in South Jersey in Millville, NJ has been an Philly sports fan all his life. And this week in The Show fantasy league he got his shot at the Phillies going against the new guys, JT Realmuto and Kyle Schwarber and he gave them the business.
Trout got a monster performance from another South Jersey guy in Isiah Pacheco on Sunday night to go with Josh Jacobs, Jalen Hurts, and DJ Moore. The Phillies duo got some help from their fellow Philly guy in AJ Brown, but got stinkers from Daniel Jones, Travis Etienne, Amari Cooper, and Miles Sanders.
Dave Portnoy found out his new Nantucket home has underground tunnels only to later find out that was a myth. But his biggest L this weekend was to Joc Pederson, Austin Barnes, and Alex Wood as they were powered by Mac Jones turnovers to dominate Portnoy.
The Cowboys D/ST dropped 15.6 points above projection and Derrick Henry turned back to clock to drop 26.38. But they were anchored by Stefon Diggs’ 3 TDs and Alvin Kamara’s 13 catches (it’s a PPR league). Dave got monster performances from Josh Allen and Christian McCaffrey but was done in by Raheem Mostert, a Javonte Williams injury, George Pickens and Matt Gay, all of which were less than 40% to their projection.
Mike Napoli kept his undefeated season alive with a win over former Champion Alex Bregman and his new partner Brian McCann.
Nap got a monster performance from David Montgomery on Thursday night and just needed a big game from Mark Andrew Sunday that got him over the hump. Bregman and McCann got some nice games from Bijan Robinson and Brandon Aiyuk, but left valuable points on the bench with CJ Stroud. So much so that after the game, they put their 2nd round pick, Mahomes on the block.
Meanwhile, the team to watch out for is managed by Eric Hosmer.
Hosmer leads the league in points sored and has made some really savvy moves on the waiver wire. Puka Nacua in a PPR league is a cheat code and Kyren Williams has been a revelation. Keenan Allen has also been stellar and was the highest score of the season just a week ago. Anthony Richardson has also been outstanding which offsets Trevor Lawrence’s rough year. Meanwhile, Wil Myers stays in last and has an offense that lacks firepower. His pickup of Romeo Dobbs for $7 FAAB was a great pickup, but not having anyone break 24 points makes for a tough week.
Speaking of last place, Mike Moustakas isn’t far off it.
He’s been the unfortunate victim of injuries with Joe Burrow who is clearly playing hurt, Saquon Barkley, Diontae Johnson, and now Tee Higgins. The Burrow/Higgins stack hasn’t seen as profitable of a return as Moose had envisioned. Meanwhile, Shane Bieber & Austin Hedges dealt with their fair share of injuries with JK Dobbins and Nick Chubb going down early. But they got a heroic performance from Lamar Jackson and made a bold trade for De’Von Achane (dealt CeeDee Lamb and Kareem Hunt for Achane and Jahmyr Gibbs). Though the RB paid had a good weekend, the rookie WR pairing of Jordan Addison and Zay Flowers put up a combined 8.0 points won’t get it done on a weekly basis.
Jake Marisnick and Andrew Benintendi put together a solid performance as Manny Machado continues a three game skid.
The first time he benches Justin Fields, he balls out with 35.90 points and went up against a buzzsaw with Justin Herbert, Justin Jefferson, and D’Andre Swift. Marisnick and Benintendi left Nico Collins 35.80 points on the bench, but luckily didn’t need those points this week.
Here’s where we stand through four weeks:
