Cole Palmer sends six-word message to Chelsea fans on Instagram after Brentford defeat

Chelsea attacker Cole Palmer did not disappoint in his side’s 2-0 defeat to Brentford yesterday.

But understandably, Cole Palmer is not happy with how the afternoon went.

Despite Chelsea dominating the game, goals from Ethan Pinnock and Bryan Mbeumo were able to secure the win for Brentford, and Palmer has since taken to Instagram to vent his frustration but also send Chelsea supporters an encouraging message.

On his Instagram story, the attacking midfielder posted a picture with the caption: “Not good enough we go again!”

Cole Palmer impressed against Brentford

While it was a disappointing afternoon for Chelsea, Palmer can be pleased with his individual performance. With better finishing on the day, the 21-year-old probably would have racked up a couple of assists.

As per WhoScored, Palmer made four key passes during the west London derby at Stamford Bridge, more than any other player.

According to the same website, Chelsea also had 68.8% possession, showing the extent of their dominance. But in the end, they were not able to turn it into anything.

After wins against Fulham and Burnley and a draw with Arsenal, it now feels like one step forward and two steps back.

And things do not get any easier for Mauricio Pochettino’s men, who take on the Argentine’s former side Tottenham Hotspur next in the Premier League.

They are flying under Ange Postecoglou right now, currently sitting at the top of the table.

But if Palmer, who is now being compared to Tottenham’s James Maddison, can replicate his performance against Brentford in north London next Monday, then maybe the Blues can spring a surprise.

Really, it is up to the rest of the team to up their game. Against Thomas Frank’s side, they were just not good enough and have to improve when they take on Tottenham if they are to have any chance of getting a positive result.
