Hojlund signed for the Red Devils from Atalanta for £72 million in the summer of 2023. But the 20-year-old is yet to score a Premier League goal for his new club.
The Danish striker was dropped to the bench to make way for Anthony Martial in Man United’s 3-0 loss to Bournemouth on Saturday. He was brought onto the field in the second half but did not make much of a difference.
Man United is said to be looking to bring in a new striker to help Hojlund regain his form soon. According to transfer expert Romano, the Red Devils are discussing three names before the winter transfer window.
“Donyell Malen is not happy with Dortmund, and he is not happy playing on the wing because he wants to play as a central striker. That is positive information for Man United,” Romano said.
“But MU is also interested in Leipzig’s Timo Werner and Serhou Guirassy, who has a release clause of 17.5 million euros in his contract with Stuttgart. They have quite a few options in January.”
Romano also hinted at the possibility of making a swap deal involving Jadon Sancho. The 23-year-old has not played for Man United since August after a public spat with coach Ten Hag, leading to Sancho being expelled from the first team.
Sancho’s departure in January is possible as Juventus and former club Dortmund are said to be interested in the winger. However, Romano said that a swap agreement is still unlikely.
