Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra’s dream home turned into a nightmare when water damage led to mold entering their lavish California mansion, sparking a legal battle that is still ongoing.

The home’s problems are said to have left it “virtually uninhabitable” and “dangerous from a health perspective”.

“This resulted in significant and material damages along with the failure to consider the request to rescind the sale,” the lawsuit also states, further noting that Jonas and Chopra are seeking “damages consequential harm” through their trustee.

Their attorneys further argued: “Instead, plaintiffs should be reimbursed for all repair costs, plus compensation for loss of use and other damages resulting from the defendant’s conduct cause”.

The exact cost has not yet been determined, but according to the complaint, the waterproofing problem “will exceed” $1.5 million and “general damages” are estimated at about $2.5 million.

Page Six spoke exclusively with attorney Fred Fenster, who represents the trustee, and explained that there has been some delay because all those involved are suing each other to prevent liability.

“The trustee filed a suit against the builder, the builder then filed a cross-claim against the subcontractors, the subcontractors then also filed a cross-claim against their own,” he told us.

“Like everyone who uses a pick or shovel on the property will be involved and it will be up to the builder to decide and prove who is responsible for the defects.”

In the meantime, we’re told Jonas, 31, and Chopra, 41, have moved to another property with their 2-year-old daughter Malti while construction on their luxury home continues in an effort to fix the problems.

We’re told Chopra and Jonas have temporarily moved out while construction takes place.

It’s unclear when the Jonas Brothers member and “Quantico” alum plans to move back, but a source says no one is currently living at the residence and it’s not being rented out.

According to public records, it appears that in August 2023 – amid ongoing litigation – the trustee entered into a deed of trust and assigned the lease with the mortgage lender.

However, Fenster clarified that this is not a sign of any financial issues on behalf of Jonas or Chopra and is simply “standard operating procedure” for the offering.

Construction is still underway and a completion date has not yet been decided

A copy of the lease assignment obtained by Page Six shows the maximum principal obligation to Jonas and Chopra’s trust is $1.5 million with a maturity date of August 2, 2053.

Regarding the legal battle, he said a trial date likely won’t be set until 2025, but Jonas and Chopra are free to return whenever they want despite the lawsuit
