Lil Wayne took to his official X platform to share his admiration for Jelena Ostapenko’s entry to the quarterfinals after defeating Yulia Putintseva. “Jelena Jelena Jelena!!! I am and I been a huge fkn fan!!! a joy to watch…EVERY TIME!”- wrote the rapper. However, this is not the first time Lil Wayne has shared his liking for the Latvian WTA star.

Previously in April, Ostapenko attended a Drake concert in Miami and was interviewed by the Tennis Channel to share her experience. She talked about her experience while giving special mention to Lil Wayne confirming how she likes Wayne’s music. “I think it was nice but honestly the part where it was Lil Wayne – I liked way better. I felt like his vibe and the music was so nice. And when there was Drake I was just standing, I was not dancing much. And when Lil Wayne came out I was dancing every single song”- said Ostapenko. Now this Latvian tennis star’s admiration for the rapper didn’t go in vain as Wayne not only noticed Ostapenko’s comments but shared the Tennis Channel’s interview on his Instagram story. “Thanks for da luv”-captioned Lil Wayne.

Wayne’s heartfelt gesture delighted the 27-year-old WTA star’s heart. Expressing her happiness with a “wow”, Ostapenko mentioned how Wayne messaged her calling himself a “big fan”. Speaking about her reaction, Ostapenko further said, “that was like … I was staring at my phone. I stopped and I was staring at my phone for like five minutes. I couldn’t believe Lil Wayne texted me. I mean, it’s amazing.”

Lil Wayne’s message surely motivated Ostapenko to prepare well against Barbora Krejčíková for tomorrow’s quarterfinals. Not only did Ostapenko love Wayne’s gesture, but she also dropped a special request for the rapper.
