NBA Market: Trae Young is everything Stephen Curry wants on the Golden State Warriors

Stephen Curry wants Trae Young on the Golden State Warriors.

Stephen Curry wants the best for the Golden State Warriors, and one option is Trae Young. The Atlanta Hawks guard has revealed that a couple of years ago, Curry called him during an NBA market to offer encouragement, and since then, they have maintained a great relationship.

In a recent interview on the “Podcast P with Paul George,” Young spoke about his bond with Curry and shared an episode that demonstrates the closeness between them. According to Young, Curry reached out to him during a particularly challenging time when the young Hawks guard’s name was surrounded by trade rumors. “He doesn’t always text me,” shared Young. “But I remember the first time I was in the trade block, just before a play-in game, I think it was two years ago, he sent me a message telling me to stay focused and keep pushing forward.”

These gestures show the support Curry provides to Trae Young, a player who, like him, has shouldered the responsibility of being the main star of his team. Throughout his career, Young has averaged 25.5 points and 9.5 assists per game, an impressive performance that, however, has not translated into sustained playoff success for the Hawks. The team made it to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2021 but has not progressed beyond the early rounds since.

In addition to their relationship, Young mentioned that he has known Curry’s trainer, Brandon Payne, for years, and they have trained together on numerous occasions. This strengthens the bond between the two players who, despite comparisons and natural competitive rivalries, have found in each other an ally and a source of advice.

NBA Rumors

Despite being a three-time NBA All-Star and one of the best three-point shooters in the game, Young has been linked in recent years to possible trades with several teams, including the Warriors, Lakers, and Heat. These rumors have sparked speculation about Young’s future in Atlanta, where many believe that his time could be coming to an end.
