As a prominent figure in the sports world, LeBron James regularly shares his thoughts on major topics across all pro leagues. On Friday morning, he reflected on a tragic news coming out of the NHL.

The hockey community was hit hard when news emerged that All-Star Johnny Gaudreau and his brother died. It was reported that the two were struck by an alleged drunk driver while out riding their bikes. To make the situation all the more heartbreaking, this incident came on the eve of their sister’s wedding.

Among those to post about this horrific situation was LeBron James. The LA Lakers star made a post on X (formerly Twitter) expressing his condolences to the Gaudreau family.

Johnny Gaudreau turned 31 earlier this month. He entered the NHL in 2011 with the Calgary Flames, where he eventually blossomed into an All-Star-level talent.

(This is a developing story.)

Back in 2018, LeBron James joined the long list of NBA greats to don an LA Lakers uniform. Last week, the superstar forward paid homage to one of the best players to ever wear the purple and gold.

LeBron James makes social media post for Kobe Bryant’s 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡day

In January of 2020, the basketball world was left heartbroken after news that Kobe Bryant and his daughter Giannis were among the victims of a helicopter crash in California. Years after this horrific incident, people in and around the game continue to honor his legacy.

Earlier this month would have marked Kobe’s 46th 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡day. While he isn’t around to celebrate, numerous NBA players made posts for him. Among those to do so was LeBron James. He re-posted what the Lakers’ account put up for Kobe with emojis of the infinity symbol and a snake. This was of course in reference to his famous “Black Mamba” nickname.

During the 2000s and 2010s, LeBron and Kobe were arguably two of the top superstars in the NBA. In total, the pair have nine championship wins between them. Both stars have also managed to deliver a title to the league’s most iconic franchise.

Kobe and LeBron battled it out on numerous occasions over the years, but the two had nothing but respect for one another. One of their most iconic moments came during the 2016 All-Star game. Knowing it would be the legendary guard’s last, the two created a moment that nobody will ever forget.

As the All-Star game went on, LeBron and Kobe decided to give the people what they wanted. LeBron jokingly slapped the floor while getting in his defensive stance, begging Kobe to come at him with everything he’s got.
