Barack Obama’s half-brother and best man at his wedding, Malik, says he’s voting for Trump

The sibling rivalry continues.

Abon’go Malik Obama, the half-brother of former President Barack Obama, stole the spotlight from his relative Wednesday by revealing that he would once again be voting for Donald Trump this November.

“I am Malik Obama. I’m a registered Republican and I’m voting for President Donald Trump,” the Kenya-𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 naturalized US citizen posted on X.

The 44th president’s relative backed Trump, 78, against former members of the Obama administration in each of the last two elections.

The snub of Vice President Kamala Harris — one day after former Congresswoman Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) endorsed her — also comes after Barack Obama reportedly helped elevate the Californian to the top of the 2024 Democratic ticket to replace President Biden, 81.

In an exclusive 2016 interview with The Post, Malik Obama said he liked that Trump “speaks from the heart.”

The endorsement was nothing new, as the 44th president’s half-brother backed Trump against former members of the Obama administration in the last two election cycles.X / @ObamaMalik

While both are sons of Barack Hussein Obama Sr., a Kenyan economist who died in a car accident in 1982, Malik called his younger half-sibling a “deep disappointment” and blamed 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton for his departure from the party.

“She should have known better as the custodian of classified information,” Malik said of the ex-secretary of state’s use of a private email server to hold sensitive government documents while America’s top diplomat.

“Make America Great Again is a great slogan,” he added in the interview from his home in the rural village of Kogelo. “I would like to meet him [Trump].”

That came to pass when Malik Obama was a featured guest of the Trump campaign at the third presidential debate with Clinton in Las Vegas.

In 2020, Malik told The Post he was “110% still with Trump” and added that Biden, then in his late 70s, “looks like he’s going to drop dead.”

Public records show that Malik still maintains a residence in Maryland and was registered to vote in the state as of 2016.

“I am Malik Obama. I’m a registered Republican and I’m voting for President Donald Trump,” the Kenyan-𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 naturalized US citizen posted on X, defying his brother’s endorsement of Kamala Harris.AP

He worked as an accountant for decades in the Washington, DC, metro region, and jetted back and forth between the US and Kenya while holding dual citizenship.

In 1992, Malik was the best man at Barack’s wedding to the former Michelle Robinson, and he later visited the White House during his half-brother’s time in office.

“I stuck with Barack Obama all through his presidency, until I realized he was all about himself,” Malik posted on X in September 2022. “That’s when I ditched him for President Trump.

In 1992, Malik was even the best man at Barack’s wedding to Michelle.

But according to a 2020 interview with The Post, the brothers had a falling out over Malik’s decision to launch a Virginia-based charity — the Barack H. Obama Foundation — that was busted in 2011 for failing to register in the state and lying about being a tax-exempt organization.

A review of Malik’s social media presence also indicates he likely switched to the Republican Party due to his socially conservative viewpoints on same-𝓈ℯ𝓍 marriage and abortion.

“We Want More Babies. My President,” the practicing Muslim posted on X last month after Trump pledged that his presumptive second administration would foot the bill for free IVF treatments.

He later visited the White House during his half-brother’s time in office.

Other startling X posts by Malik Obama range from the crass to the conspiratorial — including once pumping out a fake image of a 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡 certificate, dated from before the 1964 establishment of the Republic of Kenya, that purportedly showed Barack was 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 outside the US.

The former first relative also relished ex-independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s decision to drop out of the race and endorse Trump last month at an Arizona rally.

The Post reached out to the Maryland Board of Elections about Obama’s current voter registration status.

Neither the Trump campaign nor the Harris campaign immediately responded to a request for comment.
