The journalist who shared *that* old Blake Lively interview from 2016 that went viral amid rumours of a feud between the It Ends With Us cast is back again – this time with a ‘cringworthy’ interview with Anne Hathaway from back in 2012. The interview took place while Anne was promoting Les Misérables with Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried and Eddie Redmayne.

Kjersti Flaa took to TikTok and YouTube to share her interview with Anne, which she titled, “This might be my worst interview ever,” which is pretty huge when you consider the Blake interview was incredibly awkward (and titled, “The Blake Lively interview that made me want to quit my job”).

“In this video, I wanted to show you something really, really cringeworthy,” Kjersti says. “This is like, top-notch cringe, I mean, it doesn’t get better than this.”

She explained that because the movie is a musical, she thought she’d do something “different” and sing the first question and ask the actors to sing their answers back to her, something to make her interview a bit more interesting.

Hugh did not disappoint and played along with Kjersti, not making her feel silly for asking the question while singing, with the Aussie star proving why we love him so much by singing his response.

Russell, who you might not expect to play along, did sing back to Kjersti, which was a nice surprise. Eddie and Amanda were also very sweet and sang their responses back to Kjersti.

She then played her interview with Anne, with the cameras rolling before the interview officially kicked off.

“So, I was going to ask you to do the first question singing, can I sing it to you and then you can sing back the answer?” Kjersti asked Anne, who responded, “Well, I won’t be doing that, but you’re more than welcome to sing.”

“And I was sitting there like, ‘OK, this is not going the way I’d hoped for,’ but then I thought, ‘Heck! I’m going to do it anyway!'” Kjersti says in the YouTube video.

“So were there any awkward moments like this on the set, because you had to sing and not talk?” Kjersti asked Anne, who laughed in a not-so-genuine way.

While we don’t see Anne’s response, Kjersti adds, “So, Anne Hathaway was not very excited to be singing to me and that interview just went completely downhill after that. She was being so dismissive of me.”

Kjersti then shares a clip of herself asking Anne if she thought love was more passionate back in the time of Les Miserables, or if people would sacrifice more for love back then, and Anne simply said, “No,” and shook her head, not offering any more thoughts on the matter.

When asked if she remembers her first crush, she also responded, “No,” with Kjersti wrapping up the interview and saying goodbye to Anne, whose smile didn’t reach her eyes.

Social media users were quick to share their thoughts on the awkward interview, with one user saying, “This is just as bad as the Blake Lively interview yikes. The stonewalling is so bizarre.”

Another joked, “Interviewer: are you Anne Hathaway? Anne: no.”

“Oh no! I kinda liked Anne Hathaway. That spoiled it,” a third wrote.

“I don’t understand why some celebs find it so hard to be polite to interviewers who are genuinely asking light-hearted questions!” someone else added.

“Anne Hathaway is not an easy interview,” one user wrote on YouTube. “There are many instances where she’s unkind to the press.”

“Anne Hathaway needs to follow the example of her fellow stars. What gems!!” another said, referencing her Les Miserables co-stars who played along with Kjersti. “She is a total snob.”

“The other actors were fun and funny and adorable so why did Anne have such a bad attitude?? Unbelievable,” someone else added.

“Anne actually said to you ‘I won’t, but you’re more than welcome to sing’. She gave you permission so you went ahead and did it… then she treated you like garbage,” another said.

Some fans defend Anne Hathaway

Others thought that maybe the interviewer was the problem, with one user saying, “But the questions are so ridiculous though.”

“She isn’t being cold or mean. She’s just being direct with her boundaries,” another said, defending the star. “I wouldn’t want to sing back an answer or talk about my first crush either.”

“Yes, Anne seemed annoyed. But these were poorly worded questions – if she wanted more than a yes or no, then she shouldn’t have asked yes or no questions,” another said.

And while, yes, this might be the case, as someone who has done many of these interviews, let me tell you, sometimes I do think it’s just the actor or actress and whether they’ve had a good or bad day. Sadly, sometimes there isn’t much you can do to change this, but we always try!
