Blackfilmandtv.com has exclusively learned that both Bianca Bethune and Dennis McDonald (nee Greene) will be back for a third time in the Bad Boys franchise. Besides Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, these actors have been with the franchise for over twenty years. With filming now complete, Sony Pictures will released Bad Boys 4 on June 7, 2024.
Bianca played Megan Burnett, Marcus & Theresa’s daughter and McDonald played her boyfriend Reggie in both Bad Boys II (2003) and Bad Boys for Life (2020). At the end of the last film, Megan and Reggie got married.
Directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, who did Bad Boys For Life, the film will bring back Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, reprising their roles as Detective Lieutenant Mike Lowrey and Detective Lieutenant Marcus Burnett respectively. Chris Bremner wrote the script.
Returning actors from the last installment include Paola Núnez, Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, and Jacob Scipio, who played Armando Aretas (the estranged son Mike Lowery). Tasha Smith replaces Theresa Randle in the role of Martin Lawrence’s wife. New to the film are Eric Dane, Melanie Liburd, Ioan Gruffudd, and Joyner Lucas.
Best known for playing Sharee Gifford in the Freeform drama Switched at Birth, Bethune has also guest-starred in a number of TV programs such as Criminal Minds, Everybody Hates Chris, Zoey 101, Rosewood, and Odd Man Out: The Series. McDonald appeared on a YouTube series called Juicy.
The original “Bad Boys” earned $141 million at the global box office, while the 2003 sequel “Bad Boys II” totaled $273 million. “Bad Boys for Life” outgrossed its predecessors with a combined $426.5 million.
