Nipsey Hussle’s brother Blacc Sam shares chilling moments leading up to rap icon’s death

This year marks five years since Nipsey’s passing.

Nipsey Hussle’s older brother, Blacc Sam, sat down with renowned radio host Big Boy for an episode of his Off Air interview series.

In the newly released episode, they covered a range of topics, from Sam and Nipsey’s 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥hood to the tragic passing of the rapper that deeply impacted the hip-hop community.

Toward the end of the interview, around the 1:07 mark, Blacc Sam reflected on the day Nipsey was 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ed in 2019. He recalled being hopeful that his brother would survive as they rushed to the hospital but admitted that his faith was shaken when Nipsey passed away.

“Just couldn’t understand it. It was like the Twilight Zone after that,” he shared with Big Boy.

“Everything I believed in — my faith was shattered.” Big Boy then asked if the murder was as random as it seemed to the public, leading Sam to discuss the usual security measures taken when Nipsey visited his Marathon Clothing store.

“Somebody come to the shop, they know we in the doorway,” he shared.

“When Hussle pull up, we in the doorway. You’re gonna see me with a hoodie on and I got a pistol on me. You’re gonna see one of the team members in the hoodie in the doorway with a pistol. That’s protocol when Hussle pull up.”

“So, it’s Sunday. It’s busy in there. Why the n—a in there didn’t follow the protocol? I wasn’t there. Why they didn’t follow it? Maybe they was f—king around, helping a customer who was doing some f—king customer service. This is what I’m thinking, trying to transition into some legitimate, just selling clothes. But nobody was in the doorway. From my understanding ol’ boy walked up with no shirt on first to check the scene ‘cus he knows what’s going on in that parking lot,” he said.

“Had a conversation, probably seen no one was in the doorway, checked Hussle had on shorts, checked everybody else, left. They say he came back with a red shirt on. Tip-toed through the alley, went right and started shooting.”

He added: “So, to me that’s premeditated. Number one, there’s no red shirts in the hood. Can’t buy no red shirt, no liquor store sell no red shirt. Number two, when a n—a come through the alley with the red shirt, that’s the throw-off.”

This year marks five years since Nipsey’s passing. His girlfriend at the time, Lauren London, honored him on Instagram, saying, “If you know me You know March is always tough for me 31 days of holding my breath,” she said.

“This day decided to fall on Easter Sunday this 2024 Interesting…. considering your name #GodWillRise Energy never dies…. I love you. Eternal.”

Nipsey recently made headlines for featuring on a posthumous verse in Rakim’s first album in 15 years.
