Tiger Woods and Charlie Woods are set to compete in their fifth consecutive PNC Championship. By now, the world knows a lot about Woods Jr., but there was a time when he was new to the public eye, and the golf world was eager to learn more about him.

Charlie Woods made his PNC Championship debut in 2020. Leading up to his debut, there was considerable curiosity surrounding him. Before the event, Tiger Woods was asked to describe his son’s personality, especially after his close friend Justin Thomas jokingly referred to Charlie as a trash-talker, much like his dad.
Talking about his son, Woods said (via Golf Digest),
“He’s a little on the chirpy side, just like I am. [Charlie has] used my lines against me very well. At times, I get frustrated and annoyed because it’s turned right back against me. But that’s the good side of it. We have fun with it.”
Woods added that his son was still in evolution mode, and while he was into golf at that time, it wasn’t a certainty for the future as well.
“It could switch to something else,” he added. “As long as he’s happy, he’s excited about whatever sport he’s in.”
The 15-time major champion revealed that his son became more interested in golf during the pandemic, and they started playing together a lot.
“It kept me competitive, kept me in it when we didn’t have any tournaments,” he said. “But I had a tournament every day with him, and that was the fun part. Was just like me growing up with my dad.”
In his debut performance, Charlie Woods made a strong impression, with Team Woods tying for seventh in 2020. The duo tied for second the following year after an impressive run of eleven consecutive birdies in the final round.
The 2024 PNC Championship will take place from Thursday, December 19, to Sunday, December 22, and will feature 20 teams competing at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club.
Tiger Woods has not played in a competitive event since missing the cut at The Open Championship in July. Following that appearance, he underwent surgery to address a back issue and now returns to competitive golf after a six-month recovery.
