Tiger Woods’ son Charlie’s performance at the 2024 PNC Championship with his father has impressed many golf analysts. Woods’ former coach Hank Haney is one of them. He recently shared his thoughts on whether Charlie would follow in his father’s footsteps and play on the PGA Tour.

Haney, who coached the former World No. 1 from 2004 to 2010, was asked by a fan if Charlie Woods could earn a PGA Tour card one day. Responding to him, Haney said:

“Not many do earn PGA Tour cards, but Charlie has a better chance than most who have that dream.”

Under Haney, Tiger won 31 PGA Tour events and six Majors. The 69-year-old is credited for refining Woods’ swing.

Tiger Woods and Charlie finished as runner-ups at the PNC Championship. However, they were in contention from the very first hole of the tournament. The father-son duo lost with a birdie on the first extra playoff hole to Bernhard and Jason Langer.

Talking about his son, the former World No. 1 said after the tournament, via ASAP Sports:

“He’s gotten better at every facet of the game. That’s a commitment to practicing and developing as a player. I think that most of us forget he’s only 15 years old. I know he’s been doing this in front of the media for a long time. But being only 15, I think it’s incredible what he’s been able to accomplish so far, and the ceiling that he has is unlimited.”

Charlie Woods is currently enrolled at the Benjamin School in Palm Beach, Florida, and is a core member of the high school golf team.

Tiger Woods on Charlie’s hole-in-one: “That was the thrill of a lifetime”

Tiger Woods’s son Charlie scored his first professional hole-in-one in his career at the 2024 PNC Championship. The tournament was held at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club on Saturday, December 21 and Sunday, December 22.

The father-son duo had a spectacular first round and scored 13-under 59 with 13 birdies. In the second round on the par-3 fourth hole, Charlie made his first hole-in-one. Talking about it, Tiger said, via ASAP Sports:

“That was the thrill of a lifetime to be able to have that moment with Charlie, make his first hole-in-one, Sam on the bag, just our family and friends. That’s what this event is about. It’s about bonding and family.”

“For us to have that experience together, I know we didn’t win, but it was the fact that we competed. No one really made a mistake out there. We had to earn it, and that’s what you want to have. Hats off to Langers. They played amazing,” he added.

The father-son duo competed in the tournament for the fifth time after their first appearance in 2020. Let’s take a look at their performance at the PNC Championship:

  • 2020: 7th place
  • 2021: 2nd place (Runner-up to John Daly and John Daly II)
  • 2022: 8th place
  • 2023: 5th place
  • 2024: 2nd place (Runner-up to Bernhard and Jason Langer)
