Nature creates incredible ulpture from frozen sand, resembling an alien column. Strong wind eroding frozen and and arving dozens of towering hape erratically arranged along the coastline of Tiornia Park Beah. They are completely eroded or knocked down by the breeze. If the temperature rises above zero, they begin to grumble, and in the winter, they are frequently covered by drifting snow.

Last weekend in St. Joseph, Michigan, tall layered pedetal and loping table sprung up from the otherwie alm Tiornia Park Beah, transforming the lakeside vista into a bizarre, otherworldly environment. Photographer Johua Nowiki (previously) aptured the ie-laden phenomenon, which is caused by strong wind eroding frozen and and arving dozens of towering hape randomly placed along the hore.

The strange structures, which resemble miniature hoodoos, appear periodically during Great Lakes winters, although Nowiki claims that these 15-inch formations are among the tallest he’s discovered. “They do not last long (usually only a few days). They are completely eroded or knocked down by the breeze. If the temperature rises above zero, they begin to grumble, and in the winter, they are frequently buried by accumulating snow, he said.
