There are people out there who commit heinous acts that leave the rest of us feeling embarrassed to share the same species as them. When comparing humans and animals, it’s easy to see that animals reign supreme. In nature, animals act based on instinct, only attacking when they need to eat or when they feel threatened. They never harm or torture for pleasure like some humans do.
Today we have a heart-wrenching story about a dog who is unfortunately owned by a very cruel and unusual man. This sadistic owner takes pleasure in inflicting torture on the poor animal by burying her alive and restraining her to prevent her from getting away. It’s truly an appalling situation for this innocent dog to be in.
The French Mastiff was determined to keep on living and was hoping for a savior when she was found by Pedro Dinis, a passionate animal lover. While walking his pit bull in a dump area in Carrieres-sur-Seine, the pit bull suddenly behaved oddly, and Dinis quickly realized that there was something sticking out of the dirt – a living dog.
As Dinis stumbled upon the pitiable dog, he saw that it was trapped amidst a heap of stones with its head pinned to a bag of gravel. Without delay, Dinis knew he had to act fast and promptly approached the frightened dog. In order to avoid causing any discomfort or distress to the poor animal, he carefully used his hands to remove the surrounding dirt and also provided some water to reinvigorate it. To Dinis’ surprise, the dog remained composed throughout the entire rescue operation.
Once the dog was rescued, it was given the name Athena and promptly brought to a veterinary hospital for treatment. Athena was in a fragile state, suffering from dehydration and fatigue, but fortunately, her condition wasn’t life-threatening. The vet also discovered that Athena had developed arthritis as a result of being mistreated for an extended period, and she had to undergo treatment for it. During her recovery phase, Athena was taken in by the Delfosse grandparents, who adopted her and gave her a new home where she can live happily.
The person who committed the atrocious act against Athena was eventually caught by the authorities. Although he denied what he had done, claiming that Athena had run away, the evidence clearly proved otherwise. After all, a dog with arthritis wouldn’t be able to run away or bury itself under a pile of dirt. As a result, he was charged with cruelty to animals and could face up to two years in prison as well as a hefty fine of over $30,000.
