Understanding the habits of the über-famous isn’t a habit we like to get into on a regular basis. Case in point: the realisation that Paris Hilton’s new mansion isn’t entirely her own. Incredibly, the heiress to one of the most well-known hotel chains in the globe, is, in fact, renting a 14,061 square-foot mansion for the staggering sum of $230,319 (US$160,000) a month. Yep. According to Dirt.com, Hilton’s new home was last known as a rental property, suggesting the reality star has only taken it up in a long-term lease capacity.

The Tuscan-style abode is located in the Los Angeles celebrity enclave known as Beverly Park, and is home to some seven bedrooms and 11.5 bathrooms. While certainly large and lavish enough to suit Hilton and husband Carter Reum, it’s a mystery why they haven’t simply bought the property to live in. Needless to say, it certainly has everything one would need to comfortably live large and away from the prying eyes of the paparazzi. And considering the couple has recently welcomed a 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 boy, in January this year, we’re sure that’s a new consideration.

Built in 1995, the home is owned by investor Leonid Smirnov, who last bought it for $30.99 million (US$21.5 million). Boasting a grand entrance complete with a water fountain, the home features a well-established garden, with a backyard that includes a pool surrounded by tall palm trees. Inside, the palatial estate has been decorated in a Mediterranean-meets-contemporary style. Arched doorways, a curved stairwell, columns, stone floors, and numerous balconies and fireplaces give the house a lavish vibe.

The large main living room boasts a fireplace and balcony doors that open out onto the back patio, and there’s also a huge study with mahogany-panelled walls and another fireplace. In the main bedroom upstairs, which is spacious enough to hold not one, but two sitting areas, you’ll also find dual bathrooms and wardrobes attached. On the same level, you’ll find an additional four bedrooms with ensuites—perfect for hosting guests, like Hilton’s sister Nicky Roths𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥, who is based in New York.

Elsewhere on the property, a huge lock up garage could comfortably house six cars, while a sprawling tennis court offers ample opportunity for leisure time—all within the confines of a private estate. Known for its privacy, the gated community of Beverly Park is a hit with other A-listers, including the likes of Adele, The Rock and Mark Wahlberg.

No matter what Hilton’s living arrangements are, we’re sure she’s not stuck for a place to live. The Hilton heiress and socialite also own properties in Mullholland Estates, Malibu and New York City’s Noho.
