Adam Driver’s ascent to success has been intriguing to witness. Today, the Marriage Story alum has become a highly sought-after figure in the filmmaking industry. Receiving a plethora of offers for a variety of roles has become second nature to the Oscar-nominated talent. When faced with numerous opportunities, there is seldom a chance of seizing them all.
Actor Adam Driver
Like any other performer in the business, Driver has turned down many projects. Since it’s impossible to see oneself in every possible character, actors frequently decide to steer clear of particular endeavors. This best explains the reason behind Driver reportedly turning down the role of Lex Luthor in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
However, there was a shocking instance when the Hollywood star nearly dismissed the one part that gave him his big break. Have a look.

Before Zack Snyder‘s confirmation, reports surfaced years back of the House of Gucci star being approached for a role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. As per the most common rumor, the actor allegedly received an opportunity to play Dick Grayson, a.k.a. Nightwing. His refusal to depict Lex Luthor, a role that ultimately went to Jesse Eisenberg, was mentioned in other tabloid sources.
No formal confirmations have been made on the character the actor was almost cast as. However, Zack Snyder acknowledged having a conversation with Adam Driver about the latter’s prospective participation and role in the film. “But it wasn’t Nightwing,” affirmed the director in an interview with MTV News. That leaves us with the other suggestion: Superman’s arch-enemy, Lex Luthor.
What was the explanation behind the Oscar nominee’s rejection of the endeavor? Many believe it was because of scheduling constraints. Driver was committed to playing Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. This justified decision has left fans to daydream about the actor’s portrayal of the infamous DC villain.
Adam Driver Almost Didn’t Audition For A Life-Changing Role

Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman wasn’t the only instance of the 65 alum rejecting a project. Surprisingly, the actor came dangerously close to refusing a life-changing endeavor that paved his path to Hollywood stardom. The actor was questioned in an exclusive interview with Screen Rant about a part he had to be “convinced” to sign up for. This is when Driver made a shocking revelation. He almost didn’t audition for the popular HBO series, Girls.
Following was his statement:
“I will say Girls. I didn’t understand it. I was doing a lot of theater at the time and I didn’t really watch a lot of TV shows, which I hope doesn’t sound like elitist, but I wasn’t interested. And my agent convinced me to go in and read for Girls. And I met Lena and got the job. And it changed the course of my life.”
Adam Driver
As affirmed by the actor, the role would transform the trajectory of his career. Driver’s performance as Adam Sackler in the show propelled him into prominence. He received several Emmy nods. Without starring in Girls, alongside Lena Dunham, the actor might have missed out on other life-altering opportunities and endeavors that came down the line.
Therefore, the world needs to thank Adam Driver’s agent for persuading him to audition for the show.
Girls (2012-2017) is available for streaming on Max.
