Kylian Mbappé (24) has not scored in his last four games for Paris Saint-Germain, the longest he has gone without scoring for the club since 2018.
Mbappé had plenty of chances to get on the scoresheet against Stade Rennais on Sunday but failed to do so, even despite rounding Steve Mandanda late on. Prior to the match, his national team coach Didier Deschamps admitted that his captain wasn’t currently at the peak of his powers. The former AS Monaco forward has had his confidence and fitness called into question, with some outlets in France, notably L’Équipe, stating that Mbappé’s disrupted pre-season preparations are beginning to catch up with him.
Mbappé has now failed to score for PSG since 19th September, when he scored a penalty against Borussia Dortmund in a 2-0 Champions League victory at the Parc des Princes. He has failed to score against Olympique de Marseille, Clermont Foot, Newcastle United and now Rennes. It is the longest he has gone without scoring for Les Parisiens since he went on a five-game run without scoring in April-May 2018.
