For most NBA fans, their all-time starting five begins with names like Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Bill Russell, among others. But for Nuggets star Jamal Murray, his all-time list features some more modern selections that pay respect to some of his greatest competitors.
In a guest podcast appearance, Murray dropped a controversial list that includes Jordan, Kobe, LeBron, Shaq, and Stephen Curry.

On the cusp of his first Finals appearance, Murray clearly knows a thing or two about competing at the highest levels of basketball. So when Murray was asked to name his all-time starting five, fans and experts from all over the world made sure to take note and listen.
Of course, it didn’t stop many of them from voicing their own opinions on the subject.
It’s easy for fans to criticize Murray for excluding some popular NBA legends, but it’s hard to argue that his list was completely inaccurate. Like it or not, players like LeBron, Kobe, and Steph transcended the sport itself and changed how the game is played today.
As for Jamal Murray himself, he’s still setting out to prove he belongs with the best of the best after being disrespected and ignored all season long.
Jamal Murray Can Solidify His NBA Legacy With An NBA Championship
While Jamal will likely never reach the heights of Curry or LeBron, he thrives in his role as the co-star to Nikola Jokic, and his play this season may very well bring the Nuggets their first championship ever.
“I don’t think I get enough respect as I should be,” Murray told Andscape on Thursday night. “I’m better than a lot of players in the league. Every time I see rankings of guys I think, ‘Man, that is crazy.’ Maybe it’s because I have been out for so long. But if we win the chip, it changes everything.”
Judging from his All-Time five, Jamal Murray is a true student of the game, and he respects the legends who have done it all. But now, Murray has the chance to pass them all up this year as a champion while they sit and watch from home. Clearly, the guy must be doing something right.
