Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Armando Broja is now ruled out of tomorrow’s Premier League game against Brentford.
He claimed in his pre-match press conference that he was not ready to take part after suffering a setback in his recovery.
Many had believed that things were finally turning around for Broja after he started a couple of games a few weeks ago.
These appearances came eight months after he suffered a serious knee injury that ruled out the ‘very talented’ player for a long time.
However, it seems he has now suffered another setback. He was just named on Chelsea’s list of players who are currently undergoing treatment.
Now, Pochettino has confirmed he will play no part tomorrow. When asked if he is fit, he simply said: “No.”
Broja not fit for tomorrow
Chelsea go into tomorrow’s London derby off the back of four games unbeaten in all competitions, which very easily could have been four consecutive wins.
They were 2-0 up with a few minutes to go against Arsenal last week, however they were pegged back by the Gunners late in the piece.
Nevertheless, it has been a vast improvement in recent weeks from the side that got the season underway, and they will be looking to take that form into tomorrow.
The news on Broja could see Nicolas Jackson handed another opportunity to find form as he continues to adapt to life at Stamford Bridge.
It will be a big game for him if he does start. He was not selected last week against Arsenal despite there being no other recognised striker ready to feature.
Impressive displays from Cole Palmer and Conor Gallagher in his place will make it tough for him to break back in and earn his place back.
