Brittany Mahomes’ one-word response to referees’ controversial call in Chiefs loss

Brittany Mahomes found the real “MVP” from the Chiefs’ dramatic loss to to the Bills on Sunday.

Patrick Mahomes’ wife shared a video of a referee on her Instagram Story with an “MVP” caption floating around him.

It came as the Chiefs quarterback had to be restrained from the referees as he was furiously yelling in their direction following an offsides penalty on Kadarius Toney that nullified the receiver’s go-ahead touchdown on an extraordinary lateral from star tight end Travis Kelce.

Replays showed that Toney’s foot was over the line of scrimmage, but Mahomes was still furious after the game.

“Lost for words, man, it’s tough to swallow,” Mahomes told reporters. “I’ve played seven years [and] never had offensive offside called. That’s elementary school [stuff] we’re talking about. There was no warning throughout the entire game. Then you wait until there’s a minute left in the game to make a call like that? It’s tough.

“Regardless if we win or lose, just the end of another game and we’re talking about the refs. It’s just not what we want for the NFL and for football.”

The Chiefs were burned a week ago in a loss to the Packers when the referees did not call pass interference on a fourth-quarter deep ball to wideout Marquez Valdes-Scantling that would have put them in position for a game-tying touchdown in the 27-19 loss.

“Obviously tough to swallow, not only for me but for football in general,” Mahomes said Sunday. “For a guy like Travis to make a play like that. Who knows if we win … you know as fans you want to see the guys on the field decide the game.

“That’s why last week I didn’t say anything with the play with Marquez. They’re human. They make mistakes, but every week we’re talking about something and all I can do is give everything I have … A great football game that ends that way is tough to swallow.”

After the game, Brittany posted a photo with gal pals.

The loss dropped the Chiefs to 8-5 and only one game ahead of the Broncos in the AFC West.

The Chiefs face the Patriots on Sunday in New England and will look to break a two-game losing streak.
