Man who worked as a Plumber to sponsor his education bags Petroleum Engineering degree with first class

A young man named Gabriel Eze who worked as a Plumber to pay his school fees has finally bagged a bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering with first-class honors at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri Nigeria.

Gabriel is a Nigerian man who sponsored his education with the help of his plumbing business. Narrating his story on Linkedin, he said his academic journey was both satisfying and extremely difficult as it took a lot of determination and persistence to complete it.

He mentioned that he comes from a family of five, being the third 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥, and unfortunately, he lost his father when he was only seven years old. Due to his mother’s unemployment, he never expected to pursue his education at the university level.

Gabriel said because he was determined to succeed, he opted to assist the family in the little ways he could. He enrolled for a Plumbing apprenticeship while he was in high school which he completed and founded his own business, Ductspan Enterprises.

”Due to my innate determination to succeed, I opted to assist the family through the little ways I can. Eventually, I enrolled for Plumbing apprenticeship while I was in high school. Upon completion of this apprenticeship, I founded and registered #DUCTSPAN #ENTERPRISES,” he said.

Gabriel stated that it was through this business that he was able to sponsor his education to the level he is. He said he effectively juggled academics, entrepreneurship, leadership, personal development, and volunteering and still graduated with first-class honors.

He said his achievement marks the years of perseverance, dedication, hard work, and resilience he put in to achieve success. Gabriel expressed his gratitude to his mother, siblings, mentors, friends, and well-wishers who provided him with immense support while in school.

Gabriel said as he is embarking on the next chapter of his life, he carries with him the lessons learned, the bonds forged, and the collective strength of a community that believes in the power of education.
