Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha says Erik ten Hag might want to make a crazy offer for Karim Benzema, though he does admit that this may just be wishful thinking.
This summer, the 36-year-old player went from Real Madrid to the Saudi club Al-Ittihad. In 20 games so far, he has scored 12 goals. However, Ten Hag won’t be able to make many changes in January if he wants to make things better. United has had trouble scoring this season.
Because of worries about Financial fair play, club officials don’t think much will be spent this time after spending more than £180 million last summer. They have no choice but to look at loan deals or cut-price catches because of this. Since Benzema’s deal in Saudi Arabia doesn’t end until 2026, he won’t be cheap, even though he is old. United would have to make an offer for a loan instead. Saha thinks that Benzema would give United the goal-scoring s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁s they need right now, but he also said that this might just be a fantasy.
If United got Benzema, it would change their attack, which is exactly what they need right now, he told AS. He would score goals and make the team play better. Right now it’s just a dream, but Karim is still very polite.
United was interested in Benzema before he moved to Madrid in 2009. That same summer, Cristiano Ronaldo also left Old Trafford for the Bernabeu. After scoring 354 goals in 648 games, the Frenchman left Real Madrid having won five Champions League titles and four La Liga titles.Sir Alex Ferguson has already talked about how close Benzema was to joining United. He said, “We tried to spend the money from Cristiano Ronaldo on Karim Benzema because I thought that at age 21, he would be a better player.” Because of his age, it was worth going a little further for him because he is tough, has a good body, and scores a lot of goals.
“But when it hit £42m, he wasn’t worth that much.” I think it was fair that we went for £35m.
