Man United beat Luton in the Premier League and here are how the players rated at Kenilworth Road.
Manchester United made it four successive Premier League wins as they beat Luton Town 2-1 on Sunday.
The Reds took an early lead when Rasmus Hojlund opened the scoring in the opening minute. It didn’t take long for the Denmark international to double his account for the afternoon with United establishing a two-goal lead after just seven minutes.
Luton forward Carlton Morris pulled a goal back for the home side seven minutes later and the scoring ended there. United are now three points behind Tottenham in fifth and five points behind Aston Villa in fourth as they close in on the Champions League places.
Andre Onana
Too tentative for Carlton Morris’s goal but the problems were in front of him. Picked out Diogo Dalot with a fabulous pass. 6
Diogo Dalot
Under the cosh for much of the first half and made one decent intervention. Should have done better from Onana’s pass. 6
Raphael Varane
United’s best starting defender as he resorted to old-fashioned defending in an old-school ground. Kept his calm and avoided a booking. 7
Harry Maguire
Gifted Luton a chance from open play and a free-kick with a cynical foul. Suffered an injury and substituted at half-time, possibly as much tactical as enforced. 4
Luke Shaw
Made the game but did not finish the first half. Another injury setback for a player who is far too injury-prone. 5
Casemiro
A carbon copy of Villa Park: the opponents rode roughshod over Casemiro and he was booked. This time, he did not re-emerge for the second half after he was fortunate not to be expelled. 3
Kobbie Mainoo
The only United player who had an iota of control on the ball. His footwork was majestic and older teammates already need to watch and learn. Erroneously booked. 8
Alejandro Garnacho
Got an assist when Rasmus Hojlund deviated his off-target shot on target but had an off-day that was typified by another wasted one-on-one. 5
Bruno Fernandes
One of the worst on the ball for United. Oddly slowed the play down at times and his technique was often awry. More involved in the second half but impotent. 4
Marcus Rashford
Had a harmless half before he needlessly milked some contact inside the area. Drew a decent save from Thomas Kaminski and adjusted to central role. 5
Rasmus Hojlund
Took his first goal expertly and did brilliantly to divert the second in without the ball grazing his arm. Worked so tirelessly his kit was almost a different colour. 8
Subs
Victor Lindelof
A steadier day at left-back than at Villa Park. 6
Jonny Evans
An upgrade on Maguire. Read the game superbly and dominant in the air. 8
Scott McTominay
Much more discipline than Casemiro. 6
Sofyan Amrabat
Came on to shore things up. 6
Manager
Picked the right starting XI but United had no control and ended the first half with an embarrassing 41% of the ball. Substitutes improved United. 7
