With the top 70 players vying for a spot in the FedExCup Playoffs, the stakes are high. But amidst the battle for coveted positions, a new era of golfing greatness is emerging. The World No.1 golfer, Scottie Scheffler’s remarkable earnings have redefined the financial landscape of the sport, surpassing the annual hauls of legendary Tiger Woods to a great extent. Scottie Scheffler’s dominance is a key factor in this shift, as he sits on top of the Comcast Business Tour Top 10 and is ready to claim an $8 million prize.

A double amount from last year’s $4 million claimed by Jon Rahm. However, the 12-time PGA Tour winner took $3 million from the $20 million prize purse. Dan Rapaport, on his X handle, tweeted the aftermath of Scheffler’s earnings in the current season.  The tweet said, “Scottie Scheffler will win the Comcast Business Top 10. With that comes $8 million, twice last year’s prize of $4 million. That’ll bring Scheffler’s earnings from the PGA Tour to $36,148,691 in ’24. Still, two $20m purse events left, and the Player Impact Program, and FedEx Cup bonus.” https://twitter.com/Daniel_Rapaport/status/1820885318352121993 In addition to this impressive feat, Scheffler’s earnings prowess is further highlighted when compared to Tiger Woods.

In a remarkable testament to the 12x PGA Tour champ’s earnings power, his projected $36,148,691 in 2024 surpasses Woods’ highest-ever single-season earnings of $10,867,052 in 2007, as per statmuse.  The 15-time major champ earned the amount in 63 outings, with 7 tournament wins and 12 top-10 finishes. However, the 28-year-old Scheffler earned the hefty amount in just 16 events, with the same number of wins as the 48-year-old and 14 top 10s. Additionally, Scheffler broke the legend’s record in the 2021″“22 season, where he earned $14,046,910. Furthermore, his graph has been on an uptrend since his first full season, 2019-20.   With Scheffler still in his prime and additional earning opportunities on the horizon, his financial records may continue to shatter expectations and redefine the sport’s economic benchmarks.  But as his remarkable season nears its conclusion, his focus could shift to the remaining events, further solidifying his financial lead.

More records are within reach as Scottie Scheffler eyes the remaining events

Currently topping the FedExCup standings with 5,993 points, Scheffler will set his sights on the FedEx St. Jude Championship, boasting a $20 million prize purse. A strong performance will secure his spot among the top 50, qualifying him for the BMW Championship, which also offers a $20 million purse.  Subsequently, the top 30 after the BMW Championship will then advance to the TOUR Championship, with its prize purse yet to be disclosed. However, last year’s event featured a humongous $75 million purse, including a staggering first prize of $18 million claimed by the Norwegian Viktor Hovland. In conclusion, Scottie Scheffler’s in-season earnings have tripled Tiger Woods’ record, cementing his financial legacy.
