French McDonald’s threatens to remove menu item after Stephen Curry breaks country’s Olympic hearts

Stephen Curry’s gold medal performance over the weekend was enough to propel the United States to the gold and has McDonald’s in France rethinking one of their sauces.

The company joked on social media on Sunday that it was having to rethink its classic curry sauce in the face of the NBA superstar’s herculean effort against France in the Olympics.

“For obvious reasons, we are considering removing this sauce” McDonald’s France posted on Instagram, according to a translation of the post.

The photo was captioned, “For 4 years minimum.”

The French are likely feeling a bit blue after Curry had a 24-point performance and knocked down four 3-pointers in the final three minutes of the game to seal the gold medal for the United States on Saturday.

It was his 3-pointer that fell with 33 seconds left on the clock that put the United States up by nine and broke France’s hearts.

This year’s Olympics marked the second consecutive summer games which the United States and France faced each other in the gold medal game.

“I’ve seen that from Steph a few times, but it never gets old,” Team USA and Warriors head coach Steve Kerr told reporters. “It’s a global game with a lot of great players, but we still feel we have the greatest players. They were all so unselfish throughout this whole thing, through all the noise, all the pressure. We might be the only team in the world whose fans are ashamed of them if they get a silver medal, and that’s the pressure we face.

“But our players — and you saw Steph — they love the pressure. They appreciate this atmosphere, and they were fantastic.”

Curry told reporters, according to ESPN, that every shot he took he was envisioning going in.

“All I saw was the rim. I didn’t see who was in front of me. I knew it was kind of a late clock situation, but that one impressed myself,” he said about the shot with 33 seconds.

The Olympic fun may have been interrupted by a situation involving Curry’s wife, Ayesha, and mother, Sonya, who appeared to have a run-in with French police after the gold medal game.
