Chris Hemsworth has admitted working with his wife Elsa Pataky on new movie Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga was like a “date night”.
The Marvel star takes on the role of warlord Dementus in the new Mad Max prequel, while Elsa has two roles in the movie – a Vulvalini General and then as Mr Norton, a member of Dementus’s crew.
Speaking to E! News, Hemsworth revealed that collaborating meant they had some “alone time” away from their three kids.
“It’s kinda like date night for us because we have three kids,” he said. “Going to work together is when we get some alone time.”
The actor added that they “spent a lot of time” together, which was “cool”, while their 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren also got to spend some time on set.
“They were on set a lot,” he recalled. “They’ve seen behind the curtain and understand the tricks. Nothing is pretty shocking to them.”
Furiosa focuses on the younger version of the titular character, originally played by Charlize Theron in 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road, with Anya Taylor-Joy taking on the role.
Speaking recently to Digital Spy, Hemsworth praised Taylor-Joy, explaining: “She turned up in the mindset and headspace and the enthusiasm and passion to craft something that wasn’t a kind of mimic, but was her own take on the character.
“The two characters are in both very different points of their life and very different parts, one is mythologised and one is in the building of it.
“Anya was just incredible. I don’t think there are many people on the planet that can tell that amount of story with that amount of depth and nuance with the subtlety and a look.”
