LeBron James once demolished a luxurious mansion worth nearly 37 million USD to rebuild, just because he didn’t like one detail.

LeBron James is one of the highest-paid athletes in the league. In addition to earning money from basketball, he also makes personal investments and signs many cooperation contracts. As the first NBA player to reach a net worth of $ 1 billion, it is not difficult for “King James” to pursue a lifestyle like a king.

He lives in one of the most luxurious and expensive areas in the country – Beverly Hills (Los Angeles, California). LeBron James bought this 1,200 m2 property for $ 36.75 million, slightly lower than the original listing price of $ 39 million.

The Mediterranean-style mansion has a spectacular view of the city. It is built with 4 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms, a movie theater, tennis court, and swimming pool.

Inside, the house has vaulted ceilings and is equipped with 7 fireplaces. In addition, large glass doors stretching from ceiling to floor help optimize views and natural light.

The house is surrounded by cypress trees and bronze sculptures, exuding the charm of an ancient style.

There is no denying that this property has many amenities. LeBron James felt that the house did not suit his style. After 2 years of legal problems, the basketball star can finally demolish the lavish mansion and realize his desire to build his “dream home”.

King James’ other homes have simple, all-white interiors and are uncluttered. He is also known for his pursuit of sustainability, investing in a carbon-neutral dairy company by 2022. So it would be no surprise if his project was certified LEED Platinum (a certificate for green buildings).

It’s unclear what LeBron James’ new home will look like. But regardless of the outcome, FOX Sports believes it will be where “King James” will live when he retires from the NBA.

“Being able to tear down a mansion just because you don’t like the way it looks is a whole other level of flex,” said one social media user, where “flex” refers to the act of someone showing off their possessions or accomplishments. “When I’m bored, I change the curtains. But when LeBron James gets bored, he changes the whole house,” commented another user.

This Beverly Hills home was first built in 1934 and has had a long list of Hollywood stars call it home ever since. Hollywood legend Charles Boyer was the first to own the property, which was later purchased by businessman Howard Hughes and rented to actress Katharine Hepburn.

After Hepburn moved out, the house was owned by non-celebrities for many years. In 1968, screenwriters William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell spent $2.9 million to buy the mansion.

However, this is not the most expensive property in LeBron James’ collection. He also owns another mansion in Los Angeles worth $52 million. The mansion is considered a true statement of the billionaire basketball player’s lifestyle, and it’s no wonder fans call him “the king.”

LeBron James is one of the most successful basketball players on and off the court. According to Jagran Josh, he has accumulated more than $385 million in salary during his career in the NBA.

In June 2022, Forbes magazine announced that basketball star LeBron James officially became a billionaire. This is something that no NBA player has done before. Legendary basketball billionaire Michael Jordan achieved this title more than a decade after he retired (in 2014).

However, Forbes said that “King James” has lived like a billionaire for many years, owning at least 3 properties, worth a total of about $80 million. LeBron James built a $10 million mansion near his hometown of Akron, Ohio, and bought an eight-bedroom apartment in the Tony Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles in 2017 for $23 million.
