Golden State Warriors legend Stephen Curry isn’t a real Christian, but an imposter who is insufficiently obedient, according to podcaster Jason Whitlock.

Putting ‘Christian’ in quotation marks, Whitlock blasted Curry for supporting Kamala Harris‘ presidential campaign for her stance on abortion rights.

‘Disappointing,’ Whitlock wrote on X. ‘Steph is like a lot of ‘Christians’. He’d rather 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁 babies than repair America’s broken family structure. Many ‘Christians’ believe it’s naïve and foolish to promote obedience.’

The Olympic gold medalist and four-time NBA champion recently recorded a pro-Harris video for the DNC. Asked by CNBC why he was supporting the Vice President’s bid for the Oval Office, Curry pointed to Harris’ desire to protect reproductive rights.

‘Women’s rights, and thinking about what’s at stake with this election,’ the 36-year-old father of four. ‘We need to be in a position where women have the right to choose what’s best for them. That’s at the top of the list for me.’

While Curry intends to vote for Harris, Whitlock is unlikely to vote at all. In fact, he regularly reminds his followers on X that he has ‘never voted’

Curry has been outspoken about his faith for years, and even met his wife at a Charlotte church when the two were still 15. A Pentecostal Christian, Curry is often seen pointing to the heavens during games and has exercised his faith through his philanthropy. Curry’s efforts have benefitted groups promoting everything from insecticide-treated mosquito nets to combat malaria to hunger programs in the United States.

Curry went on to list a few other reasons he’s voting for Harris, who served from 2004 until 2011 as the 27th District Attorney of San Francisco, where the Warriors now play their home games.

‘Knowing Kamala and having been around her, I understand she’s qualified for this job,’ he said. ‘She’s, I think, representing what it means to be a great leader and a decent human being in terms of representing our country the right way. It’s an easy choice for me.’

While Curry intends to vote for Harris, Whitlock is unlikely to vote at all. In fact, he regularly reminds his followers on X that he has ‘never voted.’

‘Larry, you are aware I’ve never voted?’ he asked author Larry Alex Taunton on X in July. ‘I like Trump. I love MAGA people.’

Donald Trump’s position on abortion rights has fluctuated through the years.

Before becoming a politician, Trump was an outspoken pro-choice advocate before becoming a staunch pro-life proponent as a Republican presidential candidate in 2016.

That year, Trump said ‘there has to be some form of punishment’ for women who have abortions.

More recently he said it should be up to the states to decide if a woman should be punished for getting an abortion.

And then last month, Trump boasted on social media that his administration ‘will be great for women and their reproductive rights,’ although he stopped short of providing details.
