Steph – Ayesha Curry’s family has a lovely princess named Riley. But it turns out the origin of this name comes from a man.
In the summer of 2012, Stephen Curry and his family welcomed their first ๐ค๐ฉ๐ช๐ญ๐ฅ, Riley Curry. Few people know that the name of this little girl comes from the former General Manager of the Golden State Warriors, Larry Riley, who selected Curry with the 7th pick in the 2009 Draft.
It was not until 8 years after the ๐๐ข๐ซ๐ญ๐ก of the Curry princess that Larry Riley revealed the story of how the 32-year-old player named his daughter. “One day, Steph came into my office and said, ‘We’re going to have another ๐๐๐๐ฆ and it’s a girl. I’m looking for a name for her. What do you think about Riley?'”
“I was really shocked. If I told him not to do that, I would have looked stupid. Curry would have done it anyway. We have a lot of good memories. A few years ago, the whole world was watching Riley when she was on TV a few times,” Larry Riley shared with NBC Sports.

During the Golden State Warriors’ journey to the 2015 Championship, the eldest daughter of the Curry family became one of the most notable points when Steph often brought Riley to press conferences. The little girl often stole the spotlight with her extremely adorable gestures.
Now, Riley Curry is 8 years old and is an exemplary big sister to her two younger brothers Ryan and Canon. The three will have more time with their father Steph, as the Golden State Warriors have not played since March and will not have to travel to Orlando for the rest of the season.
Back to Larry Riley, he had to leave his position in April 2012, 3 months before the family of Steph – Ayesha Curry welcomed their first daughter. He was the one who brought the Splash Brothers Curry – Thompson duo to Oracle Arena, but could not stay long enough to enjoy the glory.
