Tiger Woods Prepares for First Battle Against Alexis Ohanian’s Squad as $500 Million Golf Juggernaut Set to Shake up Ratings

So, as we all know, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s revolutionary TGL league is ready to change the landscape of modern golf. But how exactly? Well, with this amazing achievement, TGL has reached a whopping $500 million valuation without hosting a single match and we know you might think that we’re joking but trust us it’s true! All thanks go to its groundbreaking blend of traditional golf and brand-new technology.

This brain𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 of golf legends Woods and McIlroy is really set to shake things up in the golf world. TGL has also received substantial financial support from its parent company TMRW Sports. This support came right after they successfully completed their first major funding round. To be honest,  TGL did face some early setbacks, such as a power outage and damage to the SoFi Center’s dome however investors always remained confident and committed.

Now, let’s talk about what’s new here, some of the major key highlights of TGL’s impressive journey rather than reaching a $500 million valuation definitely has to be the fact that they secured commitments from 24 PGA Tour players for its kickoff season. This feat helped them in scheduling the event’s inaugural event for January 2025. And now Tiger Woods is set to take on Los Angeles Golf Club which is owned by Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian, per TGLgolf.com. This highly anticipated TGL debut on January 14 has the fans biting their nails as Woods will lead the team of some of the best golfers out there featuring Max Homa, Tom Kim, and Kevin Kisner.

The inaugural match will unfold at Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and will have an adjustable putting surface with an amazing capacity for 1,500 enthusiastic fans so you better bring everyone. Wood’s rival team Los Angeles Golf Club also boasts an impressive lineup that includes golfers like Collin Morikawa, Sahith Theegala, Tommy Fleetwood, and Justin Rose. While we all know we can watch the epic tournament on ESPN, there is another special place for Canadian fans to go if they want to catch all the action.

TGL secures Canadian broadcast deal with Sportsnet

Canadian golf fans can look forward to watching Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s innovative virtual golf series, TGL, on Sportsnet. The Canadian media giant has secured a media rights deal to broadcast TGL in Canada. This partnership ensures that Canadian viewers will have access to TGL’s unique blend of golf and technology when its inaugural season kicks off in January 2025. The series features 15 events, taking place on Monday and Tuesday nights, with six teams of four players each competing in a tech-infused format.

“TGL has a new media-rights agreement in Canada with @Sportsnet that’s being announced later today. Additionally, sources familiar said the league has been having discussions with several Canadian groups about possible expansion”, said Josh Carpenter on X. In addition to Sportsnet’s Canadian broadcast rights, TGL has also secured a multi-year media deal with ESPN for US broadcasts. This expansive media coverage will help bring TGL’s groundbreaking golf experience to a broad audience. So are you excited golf fans? Because we sure are!
