The full life story of Judith Ann Hawkins, Halle Berry’s mother

Former psychiatric nurse Judith Ann Hawkins spent several decades working for the Cleveland VA Hospital. She is also the mother of Halle Berry, a well-known actress who rose to fame in the 2000s and was one of the highest-paid entertainers in Hollywood.

Halle, his daughter, is best recognized for her roles in films such as Boomerang, which also stars Eddie Murphy, The Flintstones and other characters.

Judith’s life was not very remarkable, even though she was the mother of a renowned model and actress. Despite having had many ups and downs during her life, she knew how to give it her all. Judith and her ex-husband Jerome Jesse Berry were previously married. As for their initial meeting, the two crossed paths at the Cleveland VA hospital where they both worked. Ann was a nurse in Cleveland when her then-husband Jerome began working as a janitor at a mental health facility there.

You knew they were both different races, right? Despite being a mixed-race couple, they clicked immediately and married in the early 1960s.

Halle Berry’s father is the ex-husband of actress Judith Ann Hawkins, and Halle Berry’s father is Jerome Jesse Berry.

Judith and her ex-partner had two 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren together after their marriage: Heidi Berry and Halle Berry. Halle was 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 on August 14, 1966, unlike Heidi, who was 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 on October 6, 1964.

Judith was Jerome’s second wife. Prior to this, he was married to Edwina Taylor, with whom he had a daughter named Renne.

During the early years of her marriage, Hawkins and her ex-husband Jerome enjoyed a happy life with their 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren. However, the former couple began experiencing problems four years after the couple had their second 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥. The main cause of the problem was Jerome’s aggressive behavior towards Judith.

Halle, one of his daughters, previously spoke out about her father’s abuse by her mother. She added that she could still clearly remember her father hitting her mother every day, kicking her down the stairs and hitting her on the head with a wine bottle.

Because Judith had suffered domestic abuse, Jerome’s actions were only made worse by his silence. He did everything he could to keep his marriage intact for the benefit of her 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren, but eventually gave up and filed for divorce. In 1970 their divorce was legally formalized. Heidi and Halle, Judith’s daughters, were awarded joint physical and legal custody.

Jerome Jesse Berry, her ex-husband, died in January 2003 at Euclid General Hospital in Euclid, Ohio. Judith’s husband was 68 years old when he died.

In Cleaveland, Ohio, Halle Maria Berry was 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 on August 4, 1966. Her parents gave her the name Halle in honor of the Cleaveland department store of the same name.

Hawkins was crowned Miss Teen All-America in 1985 and Miss Ohio USA in 1986 while growing up in Oakwood, Ohio. She later contributed to history by being the first African-American Miss World contestant.
