After Rory McIlroy’s Cold Reply, Golf Entertainer Calls For Bryson DeChambeau’s Help:’ ‘Need You Now’

So, if you were expecting to see Rory McIlroy on Bob Does Sports, you probably won’t. And don’t take our word for it—this comes straight from Robby Berger, one of the hosts of Bob Does Sports. Berger recently found himself in a pretty awkward situation with none other than Rory McIlroy, and let’s just say, it’s definitely a moment worth sharing.

In a recent Instagram video, Berger opened up about what went down during their encounter. It all started when he spotted McIlroy at a gas station in Jupiter, Florida. Like any enthusiastic golf fan, Robby’s immediate instinct was to get the four-time major champion on his popular YouTube channel, Bob Does Sports. But, as he shared in the video, things didn’t exactly play out as he’d hoped.

“I saw him and immediately my brain just went, uh, I’m gonna get him on Bob Does Sports,” Berger said. Now next up the typical cringe-worthy moment as he recalled, “Never occurred to me that maybe this guy has no f–kin’ idea what Bob Does.”

Of course, McIlroy is focused on chasing majors, not chasing viral YouTube content (again, Berger’s words, not ours). When Berger asked the Irishmen if he had heard of Bob Does Sports, his response was simply, “No.” And from there, the awkwardness only escalated. Berger, ever the optimist, tried to save it by thanking McIlroy for his contributions to YouTube (whoops, meant golf). As he later admitted, “I bet your bottom dollar you’ll never see Rory McIlroy on the show.”

Robby Berger got a surprising response from Rory McIlroy

Yes, you read that right. Berger tagged Rory McIlroy in his latest video post, so who knows—maybe Rory will see the humor in it and they’ll end up teaming up soon. And, as you’d expect, McIlroy noticed.

He popped up in the comment section, writing, “Can confirm that it was not your best. The Porsche you were driving was nice. Looks like YouTube pays well….”

Naturally, Berger couldn’t let that slide, so he had to call in some backup. He tagged Bryson DeChambeau and wrote, “@brysondechambeau please help. I need you now more than ever.”

Bob Does Sports is cruising along with 920k subscribers, almost hitting that 1 million mark. The channel’s been catching the eye of some big names on the PGA Tour recently, with World No. 2 Xander Schauffele being one of the more notable guests. And if McIlroy didn’t know about the existence of Bob Does Sports, it’s safe to say he doesn’t consume too much internet content.

Whatever it is, Berger definitely reminded us of all of those moments when we try to impress someone, and it totally backfires, right? As for McIlroy, he’s just returned home to the U.S. after finishing T4 at the Dubai Desert Classic. The Northern Irishman will compete in his first TGL match next week. So, if Berger gets lucky, his show could be graced by the World No. 3’s presence—after all, he’s already taken notice.
