Mamiko Tanaka, the wife of MLB superstar Shohei Ohtani, recently flaunted her pregnancy in her public appearance since the couple announced they are expecting their first š¤š©šŖšš„.
Baseball superstarĀ Shohei OhtaniĀ was recently spotted with his wife Mamiko Tanaka, who is herself a former basketball player.
Accompanied by their dog, Decoy, at theĀ Los Angeles Dodgers’ facility, the couple made their first public appearance since announcing at the end of December that they are expecting their first š¤š©šŖšš„. Seen walking together on the premises, Tanaka flaunted her pregnancy glow in a gorgeous black-tinted attire. One fan commented: āMamiko is one pretty pregnant lady.ā
Back in February 2024, Ohtani hadĀ confirmed the reports of his marriage. However, he did not reveal the identity of his wife at the time. Two weeks later, Ohtani confirmed that Tanaka was his wife after posting a photo with her.
Tanaka had previously represented Waseda University in Tokyo before signing her first contract with the Fujitsu Red Wave in 2019. In her professional career, she played four years in the Women’s Japan Basketball League before retiring in 2023.
As a Japanese baseball superstar inĀ Major League Baseball, Ohtani had an unforgettable first year with the Dodgers by winning the World Series in his first trip to the postseason. He also became the first exclusive designated hitter to win the National Leagueās MVP award.
Interestingly, Ohtani is still recovering from an elbow surgery in 2023, which has prevented him from pitching. Although, he is expected to return back as a pitcher soon and make his Dodgersā two-way debut in the upcoming season.

Not only that, Ohtani sustained a shoulder injury in Game 2 of the World Series against the New York Yankees last October. While he continued to play and helped his team win the series, he had to undergo a strict recovery in the offseason, but is expected to return to action during the Spring Training session before the season starts.
A timeline of his recovery has now been revealed by the Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts. According to him, Ohtani is likely to resume pitching in Major League games sometime in May 2025.
It will be interesting to see how Ohtani performs once he resumes the role of a pitcher during the season. The Dodgers have a good pitcher roster for rotation until the 30-year-old star returns with options such as Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, and the new signings of Blake Snell and Japanese rookie Roki Sasaki.
