Foreign show business has recently been swarming with ambitious “power couples” who suspiciously combine business with pleasure. Examples include Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez, Heidi Klum and Tom Kaulitz, and Scott Disick and Sofia Richie, proving that celebrity couples can count on much greater media attention than relationships with “ordinary mortals” or singles. No wonder Internet users often look at them suspiciously, looking for signs of a PR arrangement rather than true love.
Last year, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas joined the ranks of the power couples. The couple made a surprise debut as a duo at the Met Gala, and just two months later, they got engaged. The lavish wedding took place in early December and included three (!) weddings, which were covered meticulously in the media for several days. Needless to say, the union gave the stars a boost in showbiz ratings and even gave Chopra an excuse to appear in the music video for the new Jonas Brothers hit.
Today, Jonas and Chopra, who is 10 years older than him, are regulars at foreign events, and their joint outings always attract media attention. Wednesday’s Billboard Music Awards, which took place in Las Vegas, was no different. For the red carpet session, Chopra showed off a richly decorated, white Zuhair Murad dress, which she matched with Tiffany jewelry and foil sandals from Kanye West’s collection. Her husband, who performed on stage with his brothers that evening, wore a checked Missoni suit and suede slip-ons.
