38 BEWITCHED Actors Who Have Tragically Passed Away

The classic sitcom “Bewitched” has charmed audiences since its debut in 1964, weaving humor and magic into the fabric of American television. However, many of its beloved cast members have sadly passed away, leaving behind a legacy of unforgettable performances. In a nostalgic tribute, we reflect on the lives and careers of 38 actors from the show who have left us, celebrating the magic they brought to our screens.

Among them is Charles Lane, who played the skeptical Ed Hotchkis. Born in 1905, Lane had a prolific career and passed away in 2007 at the age of 102. Agnes Moorehead, who portrayed the flamboyant Endora, became one of television’s most memorable mothers before her death in 1974 from uterine cancer.

The series also featured Dick York as Darren Stevens, Samantha’s exasperated husband. York’s tenure on the show ended in 1969 due to chronic pain, and he died in 1992 at 63. Elizabeth Montgomery, who brought Samantha to life, became a television icon until her passing in 1995 from colon cancer.

David White and Dick Sargent also made their mark as Larry Tate and the second Darren Stevens, respectively. White died in 1990 from a heart attack, while Sargent, an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, passed away in 1994 due to prostate cancer.

Other notable actors include Alice Pierce and Sandra Gould, who both portrayed Gladys Kravitz, the nosy neighbor, with Pierce tragically passing in 1966 from ovarian cancer. The show’s humor was also enhanced by characters like Abner Kravitz, played by George Tobias, who died in 1980.

As we remember these talented individuals, their contributions to “Bewitched” continue to resonate. Their comedic timing and captivating portrayals have etched their names into the annals of television history, ensuring that their magic lives on in the hearts of fans worldwide.
