A young Nigerian lady named Busola Sule has finally earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Marymount University in the United States after four years of unsuccessful attempts to secure admission.
Busola’s higher academic journey began with a bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, which she earned in 2018.
However, her true passion had always been Nursing. Determined to pursue her dream, she started applying to Nursing schools. What she thought would be a simple next step turned into years of frustration and uncertainty.
Busola faced repeated rejections for four years. Over three application cycles, she applied to more than 20 nursing schools, hoping for a chance. Each rejection was a setback, but she refused to give up.
Surprisingly, the school she least expected Marymount University accepted her into its accelerated nursing program in 2022. Two years later, she fulfilled her dream of becoming a Nurse.
During her time in nursing school, she encountered even more challenges, including failing two major courses—Pediatrics and Pathopharmacology. The setbacks shook her confidence, but instead of giving in to doubt, she pushed forward with resilience and faith.
”Reminiscing about the times where I had doubts and thought I wouldn’t make it through because of my setbacks but as I look back now, I am more grateful than ever,”; she said.
Alongside her Bachelor’s degree, Busola also earned her certification as a Registered Nurse (RN), now licensed to practice in the United States.
Celebrating her achievement on Instagram, she quoted a bible verse Isaiah 60:22, “And when the time is right, I, the Lord, will make it happen!”
Busola admitted that the setbacks taught her lessons and helped her appreciate her journey much more. ”It does not matter what life may throw your way but if God said it’s meant for you, then it will surely come your way!” she concluded.
